Sheridan is a city in Sheridan County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 15,804 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Sheridan County.
Sheridan has several interesting sites to visit as a tourist:
The Sheridan Inn - an Inn opened in 1893 with a rich history of notable guests and a good ghost story or two.
Trail End - a mansion owned by Wyoming senator and rancher John Kendrick. Now a museum, of which much is still original.
Sheridan is mentioned (rather briefly) in Douglas Adams' final work, The Salmon of Doubt. It is, in the book, a place where scientists think an asteroid will strike. Whether or not the asteroid actually does will never be known; Adams died before he finished the book.
According to a coalition of students and residents, the best time to visit Sheridan is between the middle of May and the second week in June. This is when most of the shrubbery and trees are a vibrant green. Soon after this small window of time however the flora of the local area die off and leave the landscape a single shade of brown.
