Rock Springs is a city in Sweetwater County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 18,708 at the 2000 census.

On September 2, 1885, 150 white miners attacked their Chinese coworkers, killing 28, wounding 15, and forcing several hundred more out of town. The event is known as the Rock Springs Massacre and is one of the worst race riots in American history.

As of 2006, there are still remains of the old coal mining towns outside of Rock Springs, Wyoming. This has much historical significance and artifacts relating to the Rock Springs Massacre.

Rock Springs was referenced by Marc Roberge, lead singer of the American rock group O.A.R., in their 2003 song Coalminer.
