Fort Chiswell is unincorporated, but gains its importance from being used as a control city for Interstate 77 throughout North Carolina. Fort Chiswell is located at the junction of Interstate 77 and Interstate 81. Going west from Fort Chiswell, drivers find themselves on one of the few Wrong Way Multiplex es in the nation.
