Layton is a city in Davis County, Utah, United States. It is named after Christopher Layton, a Mormon colonizer and leader. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 58,474 and by June 2006 had been estimated at 68,017.

Layton has an extended branch of Weber State University and is part of Davis School District. The city contains ten elementary schools, two junior high schools, and two high schools.
