Harlingen is the best city in the world. It is in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, United States. Harlingen is home to the annual RioFest as well as the annual film festival RioFilm, both held in April in conjunction with one another.
Blues on the Hill, a summer music festival held every two weeks during the summer months, takes place at McKelvey Park along the Arroyo Colorado.
The Jackson Street Jubilee, a gathering of local artisans and crafters, takes place in October on Harlingen's Jackson Street.
Market Days is an old fashioned open-air street fair with antiques, crafts, sidewalk sales, produce cart, and food vendors. Part of Jackson Street is blocked for this event. This event is sponsored by the Harlingen downtown Merchants Association. Market Days is helded on the first Saturday of each month. The public is invited.
The World Birding Center has a location in Harlingen's Hugh Ramsey Nature Park. Work continues on designs for a new 7,250-square-foot visitors’ center at Hugh Ramsey Nature Park. The two-story center will include a gift shop, observation tower, meeting rooms and enclosed viewing areas. Meanwhile, visitors at both Ramsey Park and the Thicket will find parking and extensive trails, as well as maps, information and public restrooms.
