Surfside Beach is a small seaside town in Horry County, South Carolina, United States situated directly south of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. It's nickname is "The Family Beach" as it tries to make itself attracive to a quieter family element than is usually found in Myrtle Beach to its adjacent north. Surfside Beach has grown to be a town popular for its wide 2 mile white beach and expensive real estate and upscale vacation rentals. The population was 4,425 at the 2000 census. It is considered a part of the Grand Strand.
