Murrells Inlet is a census-designated place (CDP) in Georgetown County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 5,519 at the 2000 census. It was once primarily a fishing village, but has built up in modern time, along with the rest of the Grand Strand into a popular tourist and retirement location. It is most known for Restaurant Row a cluster of award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants on its Main Street. There is also a local island in the inlet named Goat Island.

Murrells Inlet is located at 33.551593, -79.048794. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 19.5 km² (7.5 mi²). 19.0 km² (7.3 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (2.26%) is water.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 15.5% under the age of 18, 4.8% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 31.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 47 years. For every 100 females there were 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.6 males.
