Clarion is a borough in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, about 100 miles (161 km) north-northeast of Pittsburgh and part of the Pittsburgh DMA. Clarion was settled in 1839 and incorporated in 1841. In the past, the surrounding area produced natural gas, oil, lumber and coal. Merely 2,004 persons lived there in 1900, and only 2,864 lived there in 1910. The population was 6,185 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Clarion County, and the location of Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

Clarion is located at 41.211791, -79.384005. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.9 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (1.97%) is water.

In the borough the population was spread out with 8.8% under the age of 18, 56.4% from 18 to 24, 13.1% from 25 to 44, 11.4% from 45 to 64, and 10.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 73.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 71.2 males.
