Tahlequah is a city in Cherokee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 14,458 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Cherokee County. The main campus of Northeastern State University is located in the city. Tahlequah is located at 35.912869, -94.971526. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 12.0 square miles (31.1 km²), all land.
