Sallisaw is a city in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, United States. It is part of the Fort Smith, Arkansas-Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 7,989 at the 2000 census. It is the country seat of Sequoyah County. Sallisaw is located at 35.457978, -94.794421. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 33.4 km² (12.9 mi²). 32.9 km² (12.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (1.40%) is water.
