Claremore is the county seat of Rogers County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 16,773 at the 2006 census. There are many historic homes and other buildings in Claremore, including the old business district. In 2002, Claremore's historic core received a rebuilding grant from the state's Oklahoma Main Street program. Claremore is located at 36.315181, -95.612784. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 31.8 km² (12.3 mi²). 31.2 km² (12.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it (1.96%) is water. Claremore's primary water source is called Claremore Lake. The lake flows into Dog Creek which in turn flows eventually into the Verdigris River.

Claremore is home to the main campus of Rogers State University, a bachelor's and associate's degree granting state institution. The Claremore campus serves almost 3,000 students.
