Catskill is a village in Greene County, New York, USA. The population was 4,392 at the 2000 census.

The Village of Catskill is in the northeast part of the Town of Catskill. Catskill is the county seat of Greene County.

Most of the village land was purchased from the natives in 1684. At the end of the American Revolution there were only ten houses in the community. The village was incorporated in 1806.

Martin van Buren was married in the village. John Adams, United States Congressman from New York died here.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 7.3 km² (2.8 mi²). 5.8 km² (2.2 mi²) of it is land and 1.5 km² (0.6 mi²) of it (20.85%) is water.

The village is on the west side of the Hudson River, where Catskill Creek enter the river.
