Red River is a town in Taos County, New Mexico, USA. The population was 484 at the 2000 census. Nestled in the Carson National Forest, high in the southern-most tip of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, it's far from the noise and congestion of the city. Red River has no traffic jams, no sirens, no pollution. In the silence of this mountain serenity you can hear the buzz of the hummingbird -- the sound of water as a stream courses down from the mountain. On a winter night, it can be so quiet you can hear the sound of snow falling.

Red River is a family town where people can still go to the parks and take a walk in the woods. Winter or Summer, there is always something to do in Red River. With special events scheduled throughout the year, you're never at a loss for something exciting to do. Year 'round you can shop for unique clothing, souvenirs and specialty items. Chairlift Rides - Hiking, biking or picnicking on top of the world, there are no better views than from the summer chairlift.

Winter Activities:

The Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area at Bobcat Pass offers more than 30 kilometers of trails and 1,400-acre park. From there you can experience the incredible mountain views and maybe even see some wildlife. Snowshoeing is one of the fastest-growing winter sports and Enchanted Forest is in tune with its popularity. Rent the latest in equipment and head out on the specialized trails for an adventure.

Snowmobiling might just be the ticket for you. You will see the mountains from a new and unique perspective.
