Spring Lake is a town in Cumberland County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 8,098 at the 2000 census.

Spring Lake became the name of the town around 1923. Previously, the town was called "Clayton Cut" and more recently "Prince's Siding."

The modern growth spurt, beginning in World War II is attributed to the proximity of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Throughout most of the 20th century, local financial services were provided to citizens of Spring Lake, Fayetteville, and Lumberton by Home Federal Savings and Loan Association. This long-time Fayetteville establishment was purchased by New South Bank in the 1990's, which later became First South Bank.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.6 km² (3.7 mi²). 9.5 km² (3.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (0.54%) is water.

Spring Lake is getting excited about the pending relocation of the US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) and US Army Reserve Command Headquarters from Fort McPherson, Atlanta, to Fort Bragg. The new headquarters will be located approximately one mile from Spring Lake’s municipal boundary and only a few miles from our Business and Industrial Center.
