Laurel is a city in Yellowstone County, Montana, United States. It is part of the Billings, Montana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 6,255 at the 2000 census. Both the interstate highway I-90 and a number of local railroads run through Laurel. It is most known for its industry and agriculture, but also has a historic shopping district. Laurel is home to a Cenex oil refinery.

Laurel is located at 45.673986, -108.770893. It is located 3300 feet above sea level. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²), all land.

Some of Laurel's residents commute the 15 miles to Billings, Montana's largest city. Laurel is also significant as it lies on one of two main roads to Red Lodge. Red Lodge, 45 miles away, is a popular mountain town and one end of the Beartooth Highway. Laurel is home to many beautiful parks, including Kids Kingdom that was made by volunteers from all of Laurel, Laurel also has a swimming pool that is kept very nice in the summer.

In the city the population was spread out with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.0 males.
