Gardiner is a census-designated place (CDP) in Park County, Montana, United States. The population was 851 at the 2000 census. Gardiner was founded in 1880, and has served as a main entrance to Yellowstone Park since then. Park's Fly Shop, one of the oldest fly shops and guiding operations in the Yellowstone area, was started by Murton Parks in 1954.
Gardiner is located at 45.036837, -110.713768. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 10.0 km² (3.9 mi²). 9.8 km² (3.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (2.32%) is water. Quite a few of the residents either work in, or have at one time, worked in Yellowstone. The bars are very popular in the summertime, especially Red's Blue Goose Saloon.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 20.8% under the age of 18, 2.9% from 18 to 24, 40.5% from 25 to 44, 28.0% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 96.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.4 males.
