Big Sky is a census-designated place (CDP) in Montana, United States. The population was 1,221 at the 2000 census. The Big Sky Resort ski resort is located in Big Sky. Big Sky is located at 45.269940, -111.299725. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 591.2 km² (228.3 mi²). 590.8 km² (228.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.06%) is water.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 15.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 48.0% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 6.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 126.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 127.8 males.
