Hancock is a town in Hancock County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,147 at the 2000 census. The town was settled in 1794 and is named for John Hancock. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 100.1 km² (38.7 mi²). 77.2 km² (29.8 mi²) of it is land and 22.9 km² (8.8 mi²) of it (22.85%) is water. It is home to the Hancock Grammar school.
