Lee was first settled in 1760 and was officially incorporated in 1777. Lee is a town in Berkshire County, Massachusetts, United States. It is part of the Pittsfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,985 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 70.0 km² (27.0 mi²). 68.4 km² (26.4 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it (2.33%) is water.

In the town the population was spread out with 22.1% under the age of 18, 7.0% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older.
