Bedford is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA. It is within the Greater Boston area, some 15 miles north-west of the city of Boston. The population of Bedford was 12,595 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 35.9 km² (13.9 mi²). 35.6 km² (13.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it (0.94%) is water. Bedford is approximately 15 miles away from the coast.
