Harahan is a small suburb of New Orleans that has a population of 9,885 (census 2000). The city is part of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Harahan is located along a heavily-wooded area along a curve in the Mississippi River, between River Ridge to the west and Elmwood to the east.
