South Hutchinson is a city in Reno County, Kansas- a "suburb" of Hutchinson, Kansas, United States. The population was 2,539 at the 2000 census. Founded in 1887 by Benjamin Blanchard of Terre Haute, Indiana, South Hutchinson is located at 38.027185, -97.939769. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.3 km² (2.8 mi²). 7.2 km² (2.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it (1.07%) is water.
