Kansas City is the third largest city in the U.S. state of Kansas and the county seat of Wyandotte County. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 146,866. It is home to the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas, which covers 12,500 square miles of the Roman Catholic community in eastern Kansas.

Situated at the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers (Kaw Point), the city is opposite Kansas City, Missouri and is included in the bi-state Kansas City Metropolitan Area, of which it is a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri.
