Missouri Valley is a city in Harrison County, Iowa, United States. The population was 2,992 at the 2000 census. Situated on a bluff overlooking the Missouri and Boyer River basins, Missouri Valley is a gateway to the scenic Loess Hills and the entire state of Iowa. The City is located 22 miles north of Omaha, NE and Council Bluffs, IA, 126 miles west of Des Moines, IA, 76 miles south of Sioux City, IA, and 11 miles east of Blair, NE, all of which are accessible by either Interstate or US Highway.

Attractions:
Desoto National Wildlife Refuge lies on the wide plain formed by prehistoric flooding and shifting of the Missouri River. Each spring and fall since the end of the last ice age, spectacular flights of ducks and geese have marked the changing seasons along this traditional waterfowl flyway. Desoto is part of a network of refuges devoted to preserving and restoring habitat for migratory waterfowl and other wildlife.

The Loess Hills Scenic Byway is a mosaic of designated roads through the loess hills region of western Iowa. The scenic byway main route begins in Missouri Valley and consists of 220 miles of paved highway or county roads paralleling Interstate 29. When travelling on the byway, the traveler has the option of selecting 13 excursion routes for additional experiences.
