Lake Placid is a town in Highlands County, Florida, United States. The population was 1,668 at the 2000 census. As of 2004, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 1,752 . The town has two nicknames, going by either the "Town of Murals" or the "Caladium Capital of the World."
