New London is a seaport city and a port of entry on the northeast coast of the United States. It is located at the mouth of the Thames River in southeastern Connecticut.

The harbor at New London is the best on Long Island Sound. Connecticut College and the United States Coast Guard Academy are located on the west bank. Naval Submarine Base New London and the Electric Boat Corporation are located on the east bank in neighboring Groton.
