Paradise is an incorporated town in Butte County, in the northwest foothills of California's Central Valley, in the Sierra. The town is considered part of the Chico Metropolitan Area. The population was 26,408 at the 2000 census. Paradise is some 15 miles (24 km) northeast of Chico and 100 miles (160 km) north of Sacramento.

While we are predominately a bedroom community that values its small town heritage, at the same time, we recognize the necessity to strengthen and diversify our local business economy. A stronger local economy will provide more local jobs, reduce the retail sales leakage to Chico, and enable our Town to increase what has been traditionally a limited tax base so that we are able to adequately fund vital, essential services to our community such as police and fire services, and streets and roads improvements.

The town of Paradise is spread out on a wide ridge which rises between deep canyons on either side. These canyons are formed by the west branch of the Feather River to the east, and Butte Creek to the west, which forms a magnificent canyon that could be referred to as a "mini-Grand Canyon". "The Ridge", as it is known by locals, extends northwards from Paradise to include the unincorporated town of Magalia and smaller communities such as Stirling City to the far north. Elevations in the town range from around 1500 to 2300 feet, steadily increasing as one travels northwards. The town is approximately 8 miles east of the city of Chico, and 10 miles north of the Oroville area.
