Brawley is a city in Imperial County, California, United States. It is part of the 'El Centro, California Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 22,052 at the 2000 census. The town has a significant cattle and feed industry presence and hosts the annual Cattle Call parade. Year-round agriculture is an important economy in Brawley. Summer daytime temperatures often exceed 115°F.

The Colorado River is about 30 miles from Brawley. The Salton Sea and desert sand dunes are accessible in minutes. The Sea of Cortez is about three hours away. All these areas offer prime recreational opportunities, from bird-watching to fishing, hunting, boating, dune riding, and just about any other outdoor activity you could imagine.

Imperial County, originally part of San Diego County, was founded August 7, 1907. The area was visited as early as 1540 by Hernando de Alarcon, discoverer of the Colorado River. It was further explored by Spanish explorers and Catholic friars. Settlements existed along the Butterfield Stage Route as early as 1858, but no real development took place until water was brought into the area in 1901.
