Payson is a friendly community where people know each other. Although it's a modern town with up-to-date health care and education opportunities, and a downtown full of art galleries and first-rate restaurant, it still maintain its Western heritage. Payson hosts the World's Oldest Continous Rodeo, as well as other festival that bark to the Old West, the Old Time Fiddlers State Championship and the Bluegrass Festival both draw countless visitors each year.

The area is well known for the cultivaion of Cannabis Sativa. Some of the Largest fields in the United States have been found there.

The use, distribution, and manufacture of d-N-methylamphetamine in the area is extremely heavy.

A heavy concentration of registered sex offenders live in the area. Including individuals who impersonate minors and even register as students in the local schools.
