Strawberries so fresh they’ll make you blush! Indeed, Lincoln sets aside a day in late June to celebrate this sensuous fruit: the Beamsville Strawberry Festival features entertainment, contests, flea market, sidewalk sales and, of course, plenty of luscious strawberries.

But that’s just the beginning of a sensational parade of sun-kissed offerings from Lincoln’s fields and orchards. After the strawberries come back for the cherries, raspberries, apricots, peaches, and naturally, grapes. Fruit stands abound, some of which include picnic areas and playgrounds. Epicureans may want to visit one of the many pick-your-own operations for the freshest of produce.

A delightful holdover from the past is the honor system of payment used by some small fruit-stand owners. European and American visitors are astounded to find a box in which to place payment after selecting their fruit from the unattended booth.

After your fruit-tasting amble off to visit Lincoln’s many antique and curio shops. Jordan’s main street features a number of such shops while flea markets fans will want to spend a Sunday afternoon browsing the offerings at the Beamsville and Jordan Flea Markets.

In September celebrate the harvest and our heritage at the three-day Lincoln County Fair. And be sure to come back Thanksgiving weekend for the biggest market of all when the Ball’s Falls Craft Show attracts thousands of visitors and hundreds of vendors. Also in October, Jordan’s Pioneer Days will give you a glimpse of settler life 200 years ago.
