Hinton is a town in western Alberta, Canada.

It is located in Yellowhead County, 81 km northeast of Jasper and about 284 km west of Alberta's capital city, Edmonton, at the intersection of Yellowhead and Bighorn Highway, in the Athabasca River valley.

Hinton Golf Club - This spectacular course lies in the forested foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Its fairways meander over rolling hills and through tall spruce trees. Both scenic and challenging, course yardage ranges from 5433 yards (red) to 6729 yards (blue).

Athabasca Lookout Nordic Centre - This world-class Nordic Centre has a 1.5 km lighted cross-country ski trail, which provides wonderful skiing long into the evening. The trails are 10 meters wide and range from distances of 1.25 km to up to 25 km in length. The rustic day-use chalet is large enough to accommodate groups up to 50.

Athabasca Tower - This forestry look-out offers the adventurous a breath-taking view of the Rockies.

Brule Sand Dunes - Multiple trails offer hikers, equestrians, and off-road vehicle enthusiasts a great view of the Rockies amidst miles of sand dunes. While hiking the trails, watch carefully for the old telegraph poles and the Grand Trunk Pacific Station buried in time from the ever-changing sand.

Miette Hot Springs - The hot springs have always been a major tourist attraction in this region. The first pool was built in 1919. This fabulous attraction also offers many hiking trails with spectacular views and wildlife.

Ogre Canyon - Ogre Canyon is a very beautiful sight to see. The canyon is a deeply carved cleft in the mountainside. At the base of the cliffs are many sinkholes created by underground streams.

Pocohontas - The name Pocohontas belongs to more than one local attraction. One is the "Indian Head" mountain shape of Roche Miette, appearing as if in full head-dress.

Yellowhead Raceway - The Raceway offers a variety of attractions. Come and see the Hobby-Stock and Street-Stock Races, Demolition Derby, and more. Races start in May. Watch for listings in The Parklander Newspaper.
